WAM Theatre weaves works from Henry David Thoreau with voices of today. Drawing from Thoreau’s letter of Civil Disobedience, poetry and the history of his time, actors Dana Harrison and Jennie Jadow, explore transcendentalism in our modern world. Voices of today include human rights activist and Pulitzer prize-winner Nicholas Kristof and president Barack Obama.
As part of the 2016 10x10 Upstreet Arts Festival in Pittsfield, five amazing organizations are coming together to celebrate the historic authors that are connected to Pittsfield.
Kickwheel Ensemble Theater/Berkshire Fringe is taking on Oliver Wendell Holmes, Berkshire Music School will be composing a piece surrounding Herman Melville, Pittsfield Shakespeare in the Park has Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Town Players of Pittsfield will be performing something with a Nathaniel Hawthorne theme and WAM Theatre has Henry David Thoreau. This project is in collaboration with the In Motion Pittsfield Writers’ Residency program. Click here for more information on that project.
