Meet the Housemothers of Mother of Peace, Illovo

need to go thru 7

In keeping with WAM Theatre’s double philanthropic mission, twenty-five percent of the profits from In Darfur will go directly to Mother of Peace Orphanage in Illovo, South Africa.

We are grateful to Berkshire’s own Susie Weekes for connecting us with this outstanding institution, which houses, feeds, clothes, and educates dozens of orphans. Some lost their parents due to the AIDS epidemic, some to violence, some to the grinding poverty prevalent in post-apartheid South Africa. Some of the children are HIV positive or the victims of violence and abuse themselves. Each receives love and support in a family environment thanks to these thirteen amazing women, many of whom are orphans themselves and single mothers with children of their own to raise.

Click on the names below to read a brief biography of the women your ticket purchase will go to support. They will tell you how they will spend the money we will be sending to them.
