“Your Check Has Legs!”

YourGiftHasLegs-v2Sunday, September 15, 2013: Written by Kristen van Ginhoven, WAM Theatre Artistic Director

At a recent workshop Kathy LeMay, founder of Raising Change, heard about WAM’s mission and said “Your check has legs!

She was delighted by how much good a donation to WAM can do.

We aim to raise $10,000 in the next six weeks.

Read on and see how far a donation from you can go.

WHY $10,000?

Staging professional theatre has costs. We’ve already raised $20,000. We need another $10,000 to ensure our November production tells Emilie Du Chatelet’s story with the highest possible professional standards.

WHY NOW?

We’ve committed to contracts for the 15+ members of our cast and creative team. We need to ensure we can pay these professionals a fair wage for their work.

WHAT WILL BE DIFFERENT?

Emilie Du Chatelet’s inspiring story will have been shared with Northeast audiences for the first time, plus her example will be presented to young women as a role model through our targeted education program.

WHAT WILL BE BETTER?

Supporting WAM = paying professional theatre artists = higher professional standards = quality productions = growing audience numbers = larger donation to beneficiary = more opportunity for young women = a better world!

Our donation from this production will help fund the college tour for the Rites of Passage and Empowerment for Girls Program, founded by Pittsfield community leader Shirley Edgarton. Some of these girls are among the first in their family to go to college.

We hope you donate today and help us raise the final $10,000 needed by the closing performance on Sunday, November 24.
