Brittany Harris
Brittany Harris (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist and composer. Current Role at WAM: cellist in hollow roots. Selected Performance Experience Elsewhere: Brittany has performed in many major venues such as Saturday Night Live with Shawn Mendez, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with Liam Gallager, appearances at Carnegie Hall performing with Busta Rhymes and the Revive Band, also with The Manhattan Symphonie, The Apollo Theatre with the Soul Science Lab, and appearances at The Lincoln Center for The Notorious B.I.G. Tribute, to name a few. She also performs with her own band as a singer, songwriter, cellist, and electric bassist, performing at multiple venues around NYC. Current Sound Design Projects: Currently Brittany works as a composer and sound designer for her and her partner, Mellissa Phillips – Oribhabor, podcast “Good Night Black Child”. A podcast, creating a safe space for all children and the young at heart, but specifically focusing on original and folk bedtime stories, affirmations, and meditations, of the black and brown diaspora. She also works as music metadata analyst for a music library productions company 4 Elements music, freelance composer and sound designer, music copyist, freelance cellist, and also serves on the board of a brooklyn based orchestra called The BRIDGE (Bringing. Real. Instruments. Dat. Gritty. Edge.), a hip-hop/classical fusion chamber orchestra, as the Senior Talent Acquisition Partner and cellist. Selected Teaching Experience: Over the years Brittany taught, orchestra, band, choir, and many other musical ensembles in the NYC Public schools. While working as a full-time educator, Brittany was also building her own private teaching studio of students teaching cello, violin, viola, bass, piano, and voice, music theory. Selected Training: BA in Music Education and Music Performance: Cello from Western Michigan University, Masters in Music Theory and Composition: Film Scoring from New York University. Etc: In 2016 Brittany revisited her sketch comedy and improv days and briefly reassembled with her high school sketch comedy group (The Performing Arts Guild), except the newly formed group performed as “The Guild” performing in NYC and Detroit, and even holding a residency at the People’s improv Theater Group.
