Statement Regarding the Supreme Court ROE Leak

Statement Regarding the Supreme Court ROE Leak

May 4, 2022

WAM Theatre exists in order to center and uplift the stories and empowerment of women and girls.

Like you, we are horrified by the leaked document from the Supreme Court that challenges our autonomy over our own bodies and would take us back to a time before Roe v Wade.  The effects of this would be devastating, especially to the most young, vulnerable and economically disadvantaged women and girls in our country.

At this time we’d like to amplify and encourage you to join us in supporting the work of our ROE beneficiaries: Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts (ARFWM) here in our own state and Sister Song, that works in states where abortion access has been restricted, as well as all the other Reproductive Justice organizations doing tireless work across the country to protect the health of women and girls.  Please see abortionfunds.org as a resource.

For a historic look at why this decision is a misread of the constitution, we recommend this Washington Post article by Dr. Laura Briggs. For a more personal call to rage, we recommend this New York Time piece by Roxane Gay.
