Monica Orozco

Monica Orozco (Pilar, Far, Far Better Things) is an educator and performer currently on faculty at Smith College where she teaches acting, theatre, and dramatic literature courses. WAM Theatre: debut. Theatre Credits Include: stages across the country and has worked extensively in Chicago, her artistic home base. Notable institutions include: Goodman Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre and Utah Shakespeare Festival. TV/Film: many commercials and episodes of Chicago Med (NBC) and Soundtrack (Netflix). Scholarly Work: Monica’s foci include; decentering traditional theater training practices in order to incorporate and amplify voices from marginalized perspectives and championing linguistic justice in actor speech training. She is currently researching practices grounded in energy work to interrogate the connection between the mind and body and its ability to heal, promote whole being wellness for the performer and stimulate creative flow. Memberships: a proud member of AEA and SAG-AFTRA. Education/Training: MFA in Acting from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
